Audio Story

here is my completed audio story!

As my topic revolves around self-care, I decided to create an audio story that directly talks about my topic of self-care. I created an introduction with my voice narration that discusses what self-care is, and the importance of self-care in relation to everyday life and busy schedules. I then recorded a few interviews from individuals and asked them to tell me a little bit about their self-care rituals, in order to show some diverse examples from everyday people to the audience. This gives context and could relate to the audience as well as give new perspectives.

To record my narration, I used the record software within the Audition software, and edited it using the razer tool to make it more seamless. To conduct the interviews, I asked several people their permission to record and use the audio. I used my phone’s memo recording app to record the interviews and then put them into the Audition software to trim and edit them using the razer tool, to remove unnecessary parts in order to help the flow of the story.

Some of the challenges I faced during this process was figuring out the format and style I wanted to use for the audio story, as well as finding good interview examples. I had to conduct several interviews to find some that would fit the audio story. Editing the audio clips was fairly time consuming as I wanted to remove most of the unnecessary parts, such as breathing or “umm.” This took quite a bit of time but was straight forward.

For my final version I decided to add some light music during the introduction and ending. I left the interview portions without music, so it was easier to pay attention to what was being said. The music I chose is relaxing and simple so that it doesn’t take over the rest of the audio. I used the fading tool to fade the volume in and out was well as adjusting the volume to not be as loud. Overall, I think the music helps complete the story, as well as fit with my theme.

Overall, I wanted whoever was listening to get a greater understanding of self-care, as well as being able to relate to other people’s experiences and practices, to leave with new ideas or simply a reminder to practice self-care amongst all the chaos.
